The show brings great Aussie music to the masses and has us huddling around the TV set every week to see who was number 1! Richard Nixon becomes the first US president forced to resign after the Watergate Scandal, Australia sees Gough Whitlam as Prime Minister, Evonne Goolagong defeats Chris Evert to win the Australian women’s singles title, Swedish band Abba win the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo, Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee are wreaking havoc on a shell-shocked English side in The Ashes, and Christmas 1974 sees the city of Darwin flattened by cyclone Tracey.

Musically speaking, 1974 sees the release of some of the most timeless records ever made. Joni Mitchell, Queen, Bob Dylan, Steely Dan, Dolly Parton, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Linda Ronstadt, and ABBA all release chart-topping LPs.
